Urban American Farmer is hiring for part time urban farm/garden work with room for growth as the business develops. It’s a small but mighty female team, but everyone is welcome to apply. The Central Texas Food Bank is looking for an AMERICORPS VISTA GARDEN EDUCATION SUMMER ASSOCIATE in our PROGRAMS Department. The Garden Summer Associate VISTA will support the educational initiatives of the Central Texas Food Bank Learning Garden primarily by coordinating, facilitating, and evaluating garden education for children participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The VISTA will recruit and coordinate with SFSP sites to participate in garden field trips at the Central Texas Food Bank, and/or gardening classes hosted at SFSP meal service sites. The VISTA will teach children’s gardening classes, assist other staff with adult garden education, and assist with other CTFB Garden projects as needed including garden maintenance and garden capacity outreach. Reporting into the GARDEN MANAGER on the COMMUNITY HEALTH AND NUTRITION team, this position is highly visible internally and externally and requires manual labor as well as solid relationship management, and the ability to work with children. Austin’s Sustainable Food Center is looking for a part time Farmer’s Market Lead! This is a part-time position at 20-40 hours per month, Saturdays 6am-4.30pm, rain or shine.This position will serve as head of the market team tasked with successfully setting up the weekly Saturday markets. Working here you will engage with customers and vendors, physically set up the market site, troubleshoot any day-of issues, and coordinate collections from our vendors. Market Associate Leads bear more responsibility than the rest of the crew, with handling the truck, the extra load in and out required by going to the office pre- and post-market, and coordinating and reporting on the day’s at-market matters.
