Our Department
The Welding Technology Department strives to provide excellent career readiness training in welding, welding inspection, fabrication, and metal arts. Students can take individual courses or choose from a variety of award plans to earn certificates and/ or associate of applied science degrees which are crafted to build a strong skillset in the completer. Tuition, Fees, and Other Costs
- Most college credit welding courses are 4 credit hours each.
- Each 4 credit hour course costs $391 for In-District students ($1,195 for Out-of-District; $1,463 for Out of State).
- Grants, scholarships, and payment plans are available to help students pay for college.
- Welding students are required to provide their own personal protective equipment and clothing, plus certain tools. Link to Required Supplies.

Textbooks
Welding Principles and Applications by Larry Jeffus is required for most technical welding courses. Metallurgy by BJ Moniz is required for WLDG 1337 Metallurgy.
Schedule
Welding classes are offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.- In fall and spring, the semester is 16 weeks long. Most classes meet twice a week for 2 hours and 35 minutes each time, or once a week for 5 hours and 20 minutes.
- In summer the welding classes are 9 weeks long. Most classes meet twice a week for 4 hours and 45 minutes each time.
- In any semester the student gets 80 hours of class time for a 4 credit-hour welding class.

Program Locations
Welding classes are offered at the Riverside Campus in southeast Austin and at the Round Rock Campus. The Welding Inspection and Architectural and Ornamental Metals classes are only offered at the Riverside Campus. Link to the Locations/Campuses page for details.
