Description

As a member of the Survey Field Crew with Gessner Engineering, you represent Gessner in client interactions and are
responsible for performing duties associated with the land surveying. Specific duties include but are not limited to: effectively and efficiently collecting field data, communicating and building relationships with clients, collaborating with the team to input and process data, and more.
Responsibilities
• Understanding the scope of any given survey and the field data needed to accomplish delivery of said scope
• Maintaining highly functional knowledge of survey instruments (total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors, etc.)
• Continually look for ways to increase efficiencies in field
• Keeping detailed field books (including sketches)
• Downloading and processing field data
• Properly caring for equipment; including keeping Chief of Parties informed of any necessary equipment maintenance
Qualifications
Required:
• Eligible to drive while conducting company business.
• Candidates are subject to a motor vehicle record check for the purposes of determining insurability
• High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
• 2 years of field experience in topographic survey, large boundary and construction surveying

Geotechnical Drilling Technician

Description
As a Geotechnical Drilling Technician at Gessner Engineering, you will assist the Drilling Operator with set up and operation of drilling rigs and related equipment to drill holes for geotechnical exploration test boring.
Responsibilities
• Assists with daily inspections of drilling equipment and vehicles.
• Load necessary supplies and equipment required for the project.
• Follow all company safety policies.
• Train and eventually perform Logging and packaging samples.
• Assists with simple repairs and maintenance of drilling equipment under supervision.
• Assist with daily drilling operations, assist with adding augers when instructed and providing driller with the proper sampling tool for the soil conditions.
• Communicate job site conditions with engineering staff as needed.
• Manage time effectively and efficiently.
• Opportunities for advancement: If desired, this position offers on-the-job training to eventually be promoted into a Drilling Operator.
• Advancement will be evaluated through aptitude, personality, and drive of the applicant.
• It is not a requirement for this position to become an operator.
Qualifications
• Ability to work outside.
• Occasional out of town travel ranging from 1 day to up to 1 week at a time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Preferred: Valid Class A CDL or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.

Construction Materials Technician

Description
Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technicians perform tests on soils, concrete, and asphalt both in the field and in the lab. Clients request our testing services to serve as quality control for certain aspects of their projects. The tests CMT and perform verify if materials meet specifications.
Responsibilities
• Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor on construction sites.
• Performs field inspection and testing.
• Physical strength, stamina, and dexterity to lift and move 70 lbs., stoop, bend and stand throughout the course of up to a 12-hour workday in varying weather conditions at various construction sites with varying terrain.
• Maintains a clean work area: picks up and cleans all tools and equipment.
• Performs materials handling and storage.
• Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
• Ensures that proper personal protective equipment is worn on all job sites. Brings problems to the attention of your manager or HR manager.
• Possess the ability to fluently read and understand procedures
• Safely operate Gessner Engineering vehicles on the road and within job sites
Qualifications
• High school degree or GED certification
