Overview

Position uses a variety of surveying instruments to support a survey crew in their daily operations under the direction of a Party Chief. Typical survey projects are generally local and include boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, limited construction staking and horizontal/vertical control surveys. Occasional overnight travel for out of town projects. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operation, checking and basic field adjustments of survey equipment. E.g. tripods, tribrachs, levels, total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems
  • Load and unload surveying supplies and equipment in the vehicle 
  • Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations
  • Read and interpret various types of maps and plans
  • Complete neat and orderly field notes for survey operations 
  • Keeps Party Chief informed of problems and progress
  • Clean and maintain survey equipment, tools and vehicle
  • Follow company safety procedures for survey operation

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction plans, plats, surveys, etc. 
  • Prior experience using total stations, levels, GPS receivers
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and strength & flexibility test
  • Valid drivers license
