Overview
Position uses a variety of surveying instruments to support a survey crew in their daily operations under the direction of a Party Chief. Typical survey projects are generally local and include boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, limited construction staking and horizontal/vertical control surveys. Occasional overnight travel for out of town projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the operation, checking and basic field adjustments of survey equipment. E.g. tripods, tribrachs, levels, total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems
- Load and unload surveying supplies and equipment in the vehicle
- Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations
- Read and interpret various types of maps and plans
- Complete neat and orderly field notes for survey operations
- Keeps Party Chief informed of problems and progress
- Clean and maintain survey equipment, tools and vehicle
- Follow company safety procedures for survey operation
Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction plans, plats, surveys, etc.
- Prior experience using total stations, levels, GPS receivers
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and strength & flexibility test
- Valid drivers license
