The Survey Technician position supports the City of Austin Public Works Department in the Quality Management Division. This position will research record information, process survey data, prepare CAD files and field notes and assist field crew for boundary, topographic and design surveys.

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus two (2) years experience in a field related to land surveying, environmental science, geography, mathematics, or civil engineering; or
• Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in environmental science, geography, mathematics, or civil engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience using Trimble GPS & Total Station Equipment.
• Experience with GIS software and other spatial analysis software to analyze survey data.
• Experience with customer service working with the public and other City Departments
• Experience with Word, Excel and ArcGIS Software.
• Experience with ACAD Civil 3D and COGO Software.
