Students can take individual courses or choose from a variety of award plans to earn certificates and\/ or associate of applied science degrees which are crafted to build a strong skillset in the completer. Read a list of <a href=\"https:\/\/dmcat.austincc.edu\/welding\/faqs\/\">Frequently Asked Questions<\/a> about the Welding Technology Department.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Awards Available<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Link to more information about the <a href=\"https:\/\/dmcat.austincc.edu\/welding\/programs\/\">programs<\/a> we offer.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tuition, Fees, and Other Costs<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Most college credit welding courses are 4 credit hours each.<\/li>\n<li>Each 4 credit hour course costs $391 for In-District students ($1,195 for Out-of-District; $1,463 for Out of State).<\/li>\n<li>Grants, scholarships, and payment plans are available to help students pay for college.<\/li>\n<li>Welding students are required to provide their own personal protective equipment and clothing, plus certain tools.\u00a0 Link to <a href=\"https:\/\/dmcat.austincc.edu\/welding\/required-supplies\/\">Required Supplies<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.austincc.edu\/tuition-table\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tuition and Fees information<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/financial-aid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Financial Aid information<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Note to High School Students: Find out if you\u2019re eligible for the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/free-tuition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ACC Free Tuition Pilot Program<\/a>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Textbooks<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>Welding Principles and Applications<\/em>\u00a0by Larry Jeffus is required for most technical welding courses.\u00a0\u00a0<em>Metallurgy\u00a0<\/em>by BJ Moniz is required for WLDG 1337 Metallurgy<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Welding classes are offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.<\/li>\n<li>In fall and spring, the semester is 16 weeks long.\u00a0 Most classes meet twice a week for 2 hours and 35 minutes each time, or once a week for 5 hours and 20 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>In summer the welding classes are 9 weeks long.\u00a0 Most classes meet twice a week for 4 hours and 45 minutes each time.<\/li>\n<li>In any semester the student gets 80 hours of class time for a 4 credit-hour welding class.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www6.austincc.edu\/schedule\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Course schedules<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Program Locations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Welding classes are offered at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/campuses\/riverside-campus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Riverside Campus<\/a>\u00a0in southeast Austin and at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/campuses\/round-rock-campus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Round Rock Campus.<\/a>\u00a0 The Welding Inspection and Architectural and Ornamental Metals classes are only offered at the Riverside Campus.
