Austin State Office Building, Austin, Texas<br \/>\n<strong>Time Period:<\/strong> 12 months Part-time, 15-19hours\/week, 250 hours total minimum per<br \/>\nsemester<br \/>\n<strong>Compensation:<\/strong> $20.00 per hour + optional three (3) semester hours credit through<br \/>\nuniversity (to be arranged by the student)<br \/>\n<strong>Title:<\/strong> StratMap Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Intern<\/p>\n<p><strong>Classification<\/strong>:<br \/>\nPaid and credit-based internship: $20.00 per hour for the semester and credit through college\/university (to be arranged by the student).<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Job Description:<br \/>\n<\/strong>A division of the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), TNRIS is the clearing house for a variety of GIS data in Texas. The intern will play a key role in TNRIS with responsibility for special projects, the primary focus of which being on data acquisition, development, and distribution. Other assignments may be added to provide the intern with greater exposure to the important work performed by TNRIS teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties:<\/strong><br \/>\nGIS Intern will assist in projects to enhance the ability of TNRIS to serve data to the public. The work is primarily focused within the Strategic Mapping program (StratMap). Projects include digitization and cataloguing of the TNRIS Historic Imagery Archive, participating in georeferencing and QAQC of the TNRIS georeferencing pilot project, processing of the statewide StratMap land parcel and address point projects, development of data derivative products and processing orders through public requests. Remote work option: Remote work may be possible on an as needed basis but <strong>is not<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>guaranteed<\/strong>. Additionally, remote work will be contingent upon multiple factors such as: current project needs, project deadlines, supervisor approval and the demonstrated ability by the intern to successfully accomplish project tasks from a remote environment. All interns will be required to work in the TNRIS office for the first month of their internship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><br \/>\nApplicants should either be enrolled at a recognized Texas college or university, or a recent graduate. Successful candidates will have a strong foundational understanding of GIS concepts and familiarity with ArcGIS Pro and the ESRI suite.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><br \/>\nCompletion of an introductory GIS course is required. Current enrollment or completion of<br \/>\na geospatial analysis course preferred.<\/p>\n<p>Experience with ArcGIS software and related products, knowledge of aerial imagery, Lidar, land parcels, address points, and familiarity with the geography of Texas is a plus.
