URISA Texas 2022 – 2023 Scholarship<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

URISA Texas began the Scholarship program in 2021. As the\u00a0Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA)<\/span>\u00a0Texas State Chapter we\u00a0provide professional education and training, a vibrant and connected community for our members and contacts, advocacy for geospatial challenges and issues, and essential resources. We foster excellence in GIS and engage geospatial professionals throughout their careers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Purpose<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

This scholarship provides URISA Texas the perfect opportunity to encourage and assist in further education, whether that be the beginning of your GIS journey or the continued growth of your career. The URISA Texas Scholarship is intended to aid students with tuition and other expenses associated with postsecondary studies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eligibility<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The scholarship is open to any Texas resident currently enrolled in an associate, undergraduate, graduate, or certificate program involving GIS\/Geography. Document requirements include proof of Texas residency and an official acceptance letter or course registration from the University or College program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Application Process<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The application process consists of the Scholarship application form, a short essay, and a map component. The details for these submissions are provided on page 2. The deadline for submission is June 14, 2023 by midnight.\u00a0 A lack or a wealth of experience will be taken into account during the judging process, to make the scoring fair for all regardless of the applicant\u2019s level of experience. The scholarship committee will review all applications and notify the winners by July 28, 2023. Only applicants that meet ALL REQUIREMENTS will be considered. Award<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

This award consists of 4 award levels:<\/span><\/p>\n

1<\/span>st<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0Prize – $1,000<\/span>
\n2<\/span>nd<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0Prize – $750<\/span>
\n3<\/span>rd<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0Prize – $500<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Crowd Favorite – $250<\/span><\/p>\n

Winners will be acknowledged with their headshots and a short bio on the URISA Texas website and on social media. They will receive the award in the form of a check in the mail.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
