The successful candidate will join a group of geologists in the Geology, Minerals, Energy, and Geophysics (GMEG) Science Center focused on better understanding the geologic evolution of the Lower Colorado River region through geologic mapping.<\/p>\n<p>This is primarily a GIS position that will contribute to an ongoing effort to produce seamless digital geologic maps of the Lower Colorado River region. The main job duties include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee the management of a large GIS data library<\/li>\n<li>Provide GIS technical expertise and support to project scientists<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the preparation of geologic map databases and cartographic products<\/li>\n<li>Automate GIS workflows to support and improve efficiency<\/li>\n<li>Research and implement emerging software and hardware technologies that are beneficial to the compilation, management, and analysis of geologic information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Flagstaff is a moderate-sized mountain city in northern Arizona, situated at about 7,000 ft elevation known for its vibrant community and proximity to a range of outdoor recreational opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Please review the posting on USAJOBS for the complete and most up to date details about the position and for information about how to apply: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usajobs.gov\/GetJob\/ViewDetails\/653256400\">https:\/\/www.usajobs.gov\/GetJob\/ViewDetails\/687226400<\/a>.
