Other related duties may be assigned.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Produces and\/or analyzes data from various sources to produce data sets, cartographic layouts, and reports in accordance with specifications and standards.<\/li>\n<li>Assists in the design and implementation of and\/or performs data management activities such as modifying elements and assigning privileges.<\/li>\n<li>Assists with programming activities such as design, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and modification of geospatial applications.<\/li>\n<li>Researches and interprets source records and documents.<\/li>\n<li>Performs business process analysis and develops alternatives, making recommendations.<\/li>\n<li>Responds to requests for information from internal and external customers.<\/li>\n<li>Assists with the creation, publication, implementation, and improvement of IT policies, governance, standards, and security.<\/li>\n<li>Installs new software releases and\/or upgrades including researching, testing, and implementing new geospatial technology.<\/li>\n<li>Communicates and interfaces with members of the IT, vendor, and user communities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities &#8211; Supervisor and\/or Leadership Exercised:<\/strong><br \/>\nNone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.<br \/>\nKnowledge of basic programming\/scripting principles, techniques, and documentation practices.<br \/>\nKnowledge of principles and practices of mapping, coordinate systems, projections, and scale.<br \/>\nKnowledge of basic database design principles.<br \/>\nSkill in selecting and using training\/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new concepts.<br \/>\nAbility to implement geospatial technology projects.<br \/>\nAbility to modify geospatial applications and databases using scripting languages and automation tools.<br \/>\nAbility to analyze automation needs and makes recommendations for data, geospatial software, and\/or hardware solutions.<br \/>\nAbility to read and interpret surveys, legal descriptions, cartography, engineering documents, construction plans, and aerial and orthophotography.<br \/>\nAbility to read and interpret applicable laws and regulations.<br \/>\nAbility to produce maps and other representations of geospatial data using geospatial software.<br \/>\nAbility to accurately identify\/determine customer needs and take appropriate actions and\/or steps to address identified needs.<br \/>\nAbility to recognize, value, and include different perspectives, experiences, approaches, and cultures in achieving organizational goals.<br \/>\nAbility to gain and maintain the trust and confidence of others and the organization through consistency and reliability.<br \/>\nAbility to give, receive, or share thoughts, ideas, perspective, and data to create shared understanding.<br \/>\nAbility to define, analyze, and find solutions for difficult or complex problems.<br \/>\nAbility to view the big picture.<br \/>\nAbility to quickly become familiar with emerging technologies.<br \/>\nAbility to identify trends as well as isolated events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two (2) years of education from an accredited college or university in a field related to the job.<\/li>\n<li>Experience may substitute for education up to two (2) years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Licenses and Certifications Required:<\/strong><br \/>\nNone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interested applicants should email their resume\/CV to Tracy Haywood at <a href=\"mailto:Tracy.Haywood@austintexas.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tracy.Haywood@austintexas.gov<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FLSA: Standard\/Non-Exempt EEO Category: (50) Para-Prof Class Code: 14929 Salary Grade: LJ6 Approved: April 14, 2014 Last Revised: June 07, 2021 Purpose: Under general supervision, this position creates, maintains, displays, and updates a comprehensive geospatial information system.
