The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is looking for an intern!

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The GIS Analysis Intern will provide support to the Landscape Ecology Program. This position works closely with senior GIS specialists to aid in processing and analyzing remote sensing and GIS data to support the Texas Ecological Mapping Systems Project. Key responsibilities include GIS or remote-sensing analysis, data processing, editing, and updating geospatial datasets. The intern may also contribute to field-based ecological surveys, collecting and verifying geospatial data using GPS, remote-sensing technologies, and mobile data collection systems. Work is performed under supervision with opportunities for independent judgment and initiative. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in GIS analysis, and ecological fieldwork while supporting conservation initiatives. Performs additional duties as assigned.  Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise and enthusiasm in spatial analysis, GIS data development and editing. And have a desire to contribute to TPWD’s mission “to manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.”
