Description
The GIS Technician provides entry-level geospatial support to the organization by leveraging the latest data management & curation techniques, cartographic skills, and a sound understanding of industry standards for supporting web-based geospatial solutions.
Examples of Duties
Performs updates to geographic data by using geospatial software & tools; employs cartographic skills to produce aesthetically sound maps, charts, and presentations for decision makers.
Supports projects within a team environment, works with end-users to help create and improve their business workflows; identifies technological opportunities and contributes to betterment of systems.
Under supervision from senior staff, assists in the geodata contributions to enterprise systems; Cityworks, ArcGIS, and their integrations. Evaluates current geospatial technologies and develops web-based, interactive mapping solutions.
Provides geospatial support to various levels of end-users. Provides guidance and training to end-users when necessary; Adheres to QA/QC procedures and ensures department geospatial needs are being met.
