IT Application Analyst Senior (GIS) – closes 8/12/2023

The City of Austin Enterprise Geospatial Services is excited to announce that we are looking for an IT Application Analyst to join the Geospatial Technology Management team. This team is responsible for the City’s GIS infrastructure, licensing and applications.

This position will assist with the maintenance and management of the City of Austin’s enterprise GIS Infrastructure. This individual will support a large ArcGIS Server enterprise deployment, the City of Austin’s ArcGIS Online organization, Portal for ArcGIS, FME Server, and the Geocortex platform. This includes license and account management for various Esri platforms, monitoring server and database performance, and performing server application upgrades.
This position requires excellent communication and customer service skills, and will work often with GIS contacts around the City of Austin! The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to customer service and seek out creative ways to improve the customer experience.
Please note, this position is predominantly remote but will require staff onsite presence as operational needs arise. Beginning January 1, 2024, this position will be hybrid and may require three (3) days in the office. Must reside in Texas.

IT Geospatial Analyst Sr (GIS) – 8/14/2023

The City of Austin’s Geospatial Data Services (GDS) is looking for an IT Geospatial Analyst Senior to join our production data team!  GDS manages the City of Austin’s enterprise GIS data and distributes it to City users and the public.

This team includes the Addressing team, which is the Addressing Authority for the City of Austin and Travis County and maintains street centerline and addressing data.  It also includes the Basemapping team, which is responsible for maintaining the City’s land use data, including subdivision and site plan data.  All this data is essential for other City services including 911 response, utility access, and land development.  This position will be joining other team leads to help modernize our data practices and tools.
Responsibilities of this position include:
Providing leadership and training to team members, managing QA/QC tools and projects, generating reports, troubleshooting technical and customer related issues, escalating problems as necessary, and acting as a liaison with other departments and external agencies.
Additionally, this person will be responsible for ensuring SOPs are current and accurate, managing Knowledge Base (KB) articles, presenting to colleagues and customers, and facilitating as Product Owner for IT projects.
The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to customer service and seek out creative ways to improve the customer experience.
Please note, this position is currently predominantly remote but will require staff onsite presence as operational needs arise.  Must reside in Texas.
