**THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER**

For several years, Plummer has been partnering with Texas State University’s Geography department to demonstrate real-world, current data collection tools and techniques that those students can expect to see when they graduate.  This semester’s demonstration will for the first time include Austin Community College and University of Texas as well, making it a wonderful opportunity for students from all three colleges to interact, collaborate and explore different ways of gathering data from the field.

What: LiDAR Demo Day Hosted by Plummer & Associates
Where: Five Mile Dam Park in San Marcos (at the intersection of S Old Stagecoach Rd and Blanco Vista Blvd)
When: Friday November 11, 2022.  1 to 3 PM.

We will be kicking things off at 1:00 PM and expect to be actively presenting till 3:00 PM. Here are some highlights:

  • This presentation will be interactive, so please show up ready to participate, ask questions, and work with a team.
  • We will discuss and move through the RECENT history of measurement
    • A group activity on coordinate geometry and positional accuracy with a tape measure
    • A demonstration of our Trimble robotic total station and versatility
    • A deep dive on the GNSS receivers (Trimble R-10) and the glory and pitfalls of indirect measurements
    • A “not-crash” course in photogrammetry with a UAV (Phantom 4 Pro)
    • LiDAR, LiDAR, LiDAR.  How does it work, what can it do, and when should it be avoided?  We will take a flight with our heavy-lift M-600 and collect a point cloud.
  • At the end we will take some time to field some questions from the students and share our experiences from the working world.
