Greetings, ACC GIS Community,

I am posting this blog announcement to tell you about a scholarship opportunity for folks interested in advancing drone tech: https://www.dronepilotgroundschool.com/scholarship/

The application is due May 31, 2022 for $1000 and includes a rigorous drone prep course as well as reimbursement for the Part 107 FAA exam fee. College students and college-bound high school seniors are encouraged to apply.

In the application you are asked how you will use the money since my understanding is that the Part 107 prep course and exam fee reimbursement is included *in addition* to the $1000 you would receive.

May I suggest that you consider using the scholarship money to take the 80-hour hands-on drone class UVSO 1070 Drone Operations Introduction at ACC in Kyle offered year-around (Part 107 license required but no drone required – you can borrow one for the class) and/or the GISC 1421 Intro to Raster-Based GIS offered in the Fall on campus at Highland.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions or need support in completing the application.

Sincerely,

Sally Holl
