Please join GIS@ACC Capstone students as they present their Capstone GIS projects.

The GIS@ACC Capstone course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the methods and theories of spatial analysis that will allow them to apply GIS knowledge and skills to everyday life and their chosen careers, and to apply the course towards a certificate or an associate’s degree at Austin Community College (ACC).  Students have worked hard all semester on their own unique projects covering a wide range of topics.  The order of presentations is as follows:

12pm-2pm Capstone Showcase I:

  • Land Acquisition Prioritization Along the Project Connect Corridor by Zachary Stern
  • Percent Woody Cover in Western Travis County in 1940 by Molly Richter
  • Golden-cheeked Warbler Habitat Changes from 2016 to 2022 by Daniel Miranda
  • Jester King Disc Golf Course Proposal by Katherine Foster
  • Stroll Through Time: Austin in 1877 by Lailamae Labata
  • Coastal Nesting LiDAR by Jess Lucas
  • Williamson County Road Safety Analysis by Stefanie Matula

5:30pm-6:30pm Capstone Showcase II:

  • Identify Borrow Areas for CEPRA Beach Nourishment by Terrence Kiser
  • CORE Project by Shannon McNabb, MPH
  • Prioritization of Watershed Restoration by Othon Almanza
  • 3D Utility Map for Camp Hubbard Transportation facility by Jason Gillespie

Virtual attendance is welcome, but in-person attendance is encouraged.  Refreshments will be provided.
