Geospatial Technician/Geospatial Analyst – Temporary

We’re hiring a Geospatial Technician and/or Geospatial Analyst to join the Austin Transportation Public Works Data & Technology Services Team. We’re looking for a curious and hard-working person who is excited about bringing modern digital products to local government.
Our team is a division of the Austin Transportation Public Works Department (TPW) that embraces progressive civic tech values including open technology, agile development, and user- centered design to build impactful products with Austin’s mobility planners, engineers, technicians, and staff. We administer critical IT systems, engineer open transportation data, and geek over maps and open-source projects.
This is a full-time temporary position, funded for one year with the possibility for extension.
Hourly pay is $24.56-$32.87/hour, commensurate with experience.

What You’ll Do
- Use ArcPro and ArcGIS Online to create maps in print and on the web
- Edit and maintain geospatial data in ArcGIS online and enterprise databases
- Conduct geospatial analysis and present results to stakeholders in the form of Web Applications, Web Maps, and Dashboards
- Identify opportunities for automation and workflow enhancements
- Establish operating procedures, map standards, and quality control checks
- Author technical documentation and training materials
- Be visible to staff and stakeholders and regularly undertake activities to engage and build trust with colleagues and customers
- Be a core-contributor on a team of IT professionals working to implement innovative technology solutions
Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have experience using ArcPro and ArcGIS Online to produce
interactive visualizations (including web applications, web maps, and dashboards), manage
geospatial data, and conduct geospatial analysis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One (1) year of education from an accredited college or university in a field related to the job.
- Experience may substitute for education up to one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Broad experience with the ESRI suite of software (Primarily ArcPro and ArcGIS Online)
- Experience developing, publishing, configuring, managing and maintaining data in ArcGIS Online
- Experience using, editing, and creating geospatial data in an enterprise environment
- SDE enterprise environment and/or AGOL
- Experience with database design
- Creating/configuring/modifying (relational datasets, domains, attribute rules, sub
types etc.)
- Creating/configuring/modifying (relational datasets, domains, attribute rules, sub
- Experience using and/or configuring field data collection applications (Field Maps, Survey123, etc.)
Experience/Knowledge of geospatial tools and techniques for process automation- ModelBuilder, Arcade, FME, Python
- Experience/interest in developing, organizing, and maintaining data inventories
- ArcGIS Hub, Knack
- Experience/interest in asset management, particularly as it relates to transportation and public works (signs, pavement markings, bike facilities, and other roadway infrastructure)
