The Organization:

Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District is home to 18,000+ residents. Formed initially as Williamson County Municipal Utility District No. 2 in 1977, BCMUD provides water and wastewater services, recreational activities, beautiful gardens, parks, and miles of trails through the Brushy Creek community. BCMUD operates four swimming pools, four tennis courts, and a disc golf course throughout the community.

At the heart of our District is the Brushy Creek Community Center. Our Community Center features two gyms, two racketball courts, weight room, rock wall, and recreational programming, including various fun activities, educational and fitness classes.

Brushy Creek employs approximately 190 seasonal, part-time, and full-time team members.

GIS Specialist:

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist, under general supervision of the District Engineer, is responsible for creating, obtaining, and curating spatial data for Brushy Creek Municipal Utilities District. The GIS Specialist creates, manages, and updates interactive maps, dashboards, and applications for both internal and public use. Additionally, this position will scan, archive, and plot large-format as-built plans upon request.

  • Develops and maintains GIS program that enables data analysis and map production using Esri software.
  • Establishes standards for mapping, documentation, data storage and retrieval, programming, and overall quality.
  • Consults with departments to define GIS programming needs. Evaluates the needs, and develops streamlined approaches and programming projects to include priorities, schedules, and programming goals.
  • Digitizes and drafts, using GIS software and peripheral devices, advanced and intergraded geographic information for producing complex maps that include multiple layers and features. These maps require understanding related data sources and interfaces to other land-based data and mapping systems such as roads, electrical infrastructures, buildings, and other overlayed or three-dimensional applications.
  • Determines appropriate data compression techniques, resolutions, sizes, color maps, and depths to ensure that images and synthesized graphics are delivered at a sufficient speed and quality for optimal intended media output.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends for GIS application and local and regional issues affecting GIS. Participates in cross-industry groups for GIS.
  • Keeps and maintains accurate drawings, sketches, records, and documents.
