Purpose

The GIS Analyst will support campus utilities by creating, updating, refining, and enriching geographical geometry and data information using ESRI tools using a variety of data sources. This is a mid-level position where attention to detail, effective communication skills, personal effectiveness, personal accountability, and technical prowess will be critical for success. Note that this is a staff position to support University business operations and not a faculty position associated with academics or research. This position is hybrid and will require some on-site work.

Responsibilities 

  • GIS Maintenance: Update, refine, and enrich geographical geometry and data information using various techniques and data sources. Perform quality assurance tasks. Publish changes for consumption. Run queries, geoprocessing tools, and analyses as needed. Prepare reports or maps as necessary. Collect field data as needed.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with internal and external technical staff and operate as technical representative to consumers. Coordinate priorities and workload with relevant leads in order to satisfy operational goals. Communicate progress and escalate obstructions as needed. Represent department in professional manner in client interactions. Deliver high-quality and responsive customer se vice. Communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Administrative Functions: Suggest process improvements as appropriate. Utilize task management software in accordance with departmental expectations. Attend meetings and perform other related administrative duties as required.

Required Qualifications 

  • Degree or certification in Geographic Information Science related field
  • 2-years GIS experience
  • 1-year ArcPro experience
  • 1-year experience using field data collection tools
  • Ability to work on-site as needed

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s in Geography, Geographic Information Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or GISP certification, or ESRI ArcGIS Associate Certification
  • 4-years GIS experience
  • 2-years using field data collection tools
  • 1-year ArcPro experience in an Enterprise environment
  • 1-year experience working with utilities
