This FRN announces the final decision to deprecate the U.S. survey foot on December 31, 2022.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia\"><span style=\"background-color: white\">After that date, the U.S. survey foot should not be used and will be superseded by the international foot definition (1 foot = 0.3048 meter exactly) in all applications. The international foot is currently used throughout the United States for most purposes and is typically referred to as simply the \u201cfoot.\u201d Either the term \u201cfoot\u201d or \u201cinternational foot\u201d may be used, as required for clarity in technical applications.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background-color: white;height: 17px;line-height: 17px;margin: 0px;padding: 0px;width: 600px\"><b style=\"background-color: transparent;font-family: georgia\">Summary of FRN Content<\/b><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia\">The deprecation date of December 31, 2022 is independent of any delays in implementing the modernized National Spatial Reference System (NSRS).
